JULIE BROWN
Well, in case you were wondering, it should be obvious now which Julie Brown this is:
A multi-talented comedic dynamo who's probably STILL best known for the '80s song & video
"The Homecoming Queen's Got A Gun", Julie has created/co-created, produced/co-produced,
written/co-written & starred/ co-starred in numerous videos, TV shows, films & other projects for decades,
including "Homecoming Queen...", which, incredibly, was the first video banned for excessive violence
by MTV, which later gave Julie her own show, the maniacally irreverent "Just Say Julie" (right), coinciding
with the release of the sci-fi comedy film "Earth Girls Are Easy", (which evidently went through numerous
rewrites, at least one of which, I'm sure, had Julie in the lead). The film (co-written by & co-starring Julie)
was based on a song from her EP "Goddess In Progress", which also featured "Homecoming Queen...",
as did her full-length album, "Trapped In the Body Of A White Girl". Since the late 80's, Julie's continued
to do everything from making guest appearances on such classic shows as "Quantum Leap" & "Monsters"
to lampooning Madonna (Showtime's "Medusa: Dare To Be Truthful" [below left]); from helping launch
the career of a pre-"Friends"Jennifer Aniston (who was a cast member on Julie's outrageous 1992-93 Fox
sketch-com "The Edge") to co-starring &/or appearing in such movies as 1992's "Shakes The Clown" &
1995's "Clueless" (reprising her role in the TV version, for which she wrote several scripts) to starring in
Comedy Central's bizarrely risque soap opera spoof series "Strip Mall" (2000, below right).
Her latest projects have included "Sluts: The Musical" & the song "I Wanna Be Gay".
